Berlin 

Motel One Alexanderplatz
“Before I moved to Berlin, I always used to stay at Motel One on Alexanderplatz”, says Liverpool and Union Berlin fan John. “It’s a 2 minute-walk from the station and has great transport links. Has a decent bar and in the evenings a bar on the top floor with views over Berlin. One train to the airport, one train to the Olympic Stadium. Also reasonable walking distance to the Nikolaiviertel, Gendarmenmarkt, Unter Den Linden, Hackeschermarkt, etc etc”

NH Hoteles Friedrichstrasse
“We used to stay at another hotel, but now always stay at the NH one on Friedrichstrasse, as it’s the perfect location for getting around”, says Palace and Union fan Huw.

Märkischer Hof
For several years before I got my own place in Berlin, this was where I stayed on my frequent visits to the city. It was a simple, if slightly tired hotel, but affordable and within walking distance of Friedrichstrasse station and much of the city centre. However, it’s changed a fair bit since then, I think.

Near the Olympic Stadium:

Ibis Berlin Messe
Located at the Messe, Berlin's vast trade fair complex, this hotel is a 3-minute walk from Kaiserdamm underground station, from which the U2 goes straight to the stadium and, in the opposite direction, into the city centre. The journey to the stadium is just 3 stops and takes 5 minutes. To Alexanderplatz (by the TV tower) it takes 29 minutes. The hotel has a 24-hour bar and 8th-floor breakfast lounge with views across Berlin.

Enjoy Hotel am Studio
Also very close to the trade fair complex and the long-distance coach station (served by FlixBus), this hotel is just 1 minute on foot from Theodor-Heuss-Platz underground station, from which the U2 will get you to the stadium in just 2 stops and 3 minutes. In 20 minutes it will get you to Potsdamer Platz (where the Sony Centre is located, just a short walk from the Brandenburg Gate). The hotel has a 24-hour front desk, free Wi-Fi and a bowling alley.

Hotel Aster an der Messe
Another hotel very close to Theodor-Heuss-Platz underground station and thus only a 3-minute ride from the stadium or 20 minutes from central Berlin. A privately run hotel with free parking available nearby if you're travelling by car.

Near Berlin BER Airport:

Steigenberger Airport Hotel Berlin
Integrated within the terminal building complex. Business-class hotel with bar, 24-hour front desk and free Wi-Fi.

Moxy Berlin Airport
A 6-minute bus ride to the terminal building from a stop just outside the hotel. 3-star hotel. 24-hour front desk. Bar. Free Wi-Fi.

Premier Inn Berlin Airport 
Just down the road from the old terminal building (now called Terminal 5) and less than 5 minutes from the new one (called Terminal 1 & 2). A familiar UK brand, now operating in Germany too.

Berlin rates too high? Try Potsdam instead (25* minutes away)

Cologne:

Hotel Maritim
“I like Cologne, because it’s easy to walk to most places and has plenty of bars”, says Liverpool fan John. “I stayed in Hotel Maritim, which is very nice and conveniently located.”

Wyndham Köln
While the Maritim is located directly outside the front of the station, the Wyndham is right outside the rear doors. Bristol City fans Liz and Dave, who have stayed at both, preferred the Maritim, but say the Wyndham was also "a very good location if you're travelling by train".

Meininger Hotel Köln West
Budget accommodation just a 20-minute walk from the stadium. Single, twin, triple, quadruple and dormitory-style rooms available. 24-hour front desk, bar and free Wi-Fi. 

Essential by Dorint
Business-class hotel 5 minutes from the ground by tram (or 25 minutes on foot). Ideal if travelling by car, as it is situated just off the A1 autobahn. Bar and restaurant. 24-hour front desk. Free W-Fi.

Triton
2-minute walk to the tram stop and then just 5 minutes to the ground (or about 30 minutes on foot). Like the Essential above, also close to the A1 motorway junction. Free parking and Wi-Fi. Bar and restaurant.

Situated just outside the terminal building. 24-hour front desk. Restaurant and lounge. Free Wi-Fi.

Leonardo Hotel Köln Bonn Airport

Dortmund

Mercure Hotel Dortmund City
Have stayed here several times before safe standing meetings / games at the Westfalenstadion. Just round the corner from the main station and directly beside Kampfstrasse underground station, from which you can go straight to the ground.

“Clean and functional” says Crewe fan Ian.

Budget hotel at most a 5-minute walk from the stadium. Double, twin and triple rooms. Free Wi-Fi.

A 10-minute walk from the stadium. Conference hotel with restaurant and bar. 24-hour front desk. Free Wi-Fi. 500 metres to the underground station for trains into the city centre.

Düsseldorf

Ibis Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof 
Stayed here for a Union game a couple of years ago. You know what you’re getting with an Ibis hotel, and this one couldn’t be handier if you’re travelling by train or coach, as it’s built into the main station and thus next door to the FlixBus coach station..

Best Western Ambassador Hotel
Only 200 metres from the main station. 24-hour reception. Not a hotel I've stayed at myself, but almost as handy for trains in and out of town as the Ibis above.

Near to the Merkur Spiel-Arena:

Tulip Inn Hotel Düsseldorf Arena
The closest hotel to any Euro 2024 stadium?! This one is integrated into the Merkur Spiel-Arena, so couldn't be any closer. Breakfast room overlooks the pitch. 24-hour front desk. Free Wi-Fi. 15 minutes on the underground into the city centre.

Schnellenburg
A 15-minute walk from the arena. Situated on the bank of the Rhine. Breakfast, restaurant and beer garden. 15 minutes by public transport into the city centre.

Hotel Lohauser Hof
Farmhouse-based guesthouse located a 20-minute walk from the Arena. Free Wi-Fi. Parking, garden, breakfast buffet.

Directly connected to the terminal building by a pedestrian footbridge. Four restaurants, two bars, 24-hour front desk and free Wi-Fi.

Across the road from the Jägerhof, so travel to/from the airport is as above. Country-style rooms. Restaurant and bar. Free parking and free Wi-Fi.

Frankfurt

Flemings Hotel Frankfurt Central 
Stayed in by Liverpool and Union fan John for an Union away game against Eintracht a few seasons ago. Described by him as “OK” and picked largely due to its location: directly opposite the main station (and thus also the adjacent FlixBus coach station).

Adina Apartment Hotel
A tip from another Union fan, Felix, this centrally located 4-star hotel is just an 11-minute walk from the main station and about the same to the Römerberg. By public transport it's just over half an hour to the stadium.

Near to the Deutsche Bank Park:

Lindner Hotel Frankfurt Sportpark
(Part of JdV by Hyatt). Directly across the road from the stadium. 3-star hotel. Modern design. 24-hour front desk. Restaurant and bar. Free Wi-Fi. 11 minutes on foot to the Stadium S-Bahn (suburban train) station, from which the airport is a 5-minute journey and Frankfurt main station a 9-minute ride.

Leonardo Hotel Frankfurt City South
A 15-minute walk to the stadium. 10 minutes on foot to the Oberforsthaus tram stop and then 17 on the tram to Frankfurt main station. 24-hour front desk. Free W-Fi. Restaurant and bar. 

Paragon Apartments
Serviced apartments a 7-minute bus ride from the stadium and 17 minutes with the tram to the main station. 

Near Frankfurt International Airport:

Hilton Garden Inn
Fellow Union Berlin fan Felix says he particularly likes this place, albeit that his company was paying! Located within The Square building at the airport, directly above the intercity train station. Restaurant, bar and free Wi-Fi.

Park Inn by Radisson Frankfurt Airport 
Just 1 mile from the terminal. Airport shuttle. 2-minute suburban train (S-Bahn) ride and then 5-minute walk to the hotel. Bar, restaurant and lounge. 

MEININGER Hotel Frankfurt Main / Airport
2 minuters by car/taxi/shuttle to/from the terminal building. 24-hour front desk. Bar. Free Wi-Fi.

Also right outside the main station. Free Wi-Fi. Bar and breakfast buffet. As for the Ibis Styles, c. 26 minutes by tram to the ground.

Away from the city centre, in the district of Buer, this hotel has its own restaurant and bar, and, if you're driving, free parking.

On the Schalke 04 grounds a goalkeeper's punt away from the arena. Free Wi-Fi. Restaurant and bar. 16 minutes by tram to the main station.

Arena Hotel
As the name suggests, the hotel is located right by the arena, on the far side of the car parks, a 10-minute walk to the turnstiles. Restaurant, bar, free parking and free W-Fi. To the main station it's an 8-minute walk and then 15 minutes on the tram.

Hotel Monopol
3 tram stops (6 minutes) from the arena. 24 minutes from the main station. 2 blocks from the Dorfkrug pub/restaurant mentioned on the Gelsenkirchen City page. 3-star hotel. Single, double and triple rooms. Free Wi-Fi.

Hamburg

Lindner Hotel am Michel
Union Berlin fan Felix says he "really liked" this 4-star hotel in central Hamburg. A 10-minute walk from the harbour, the Reeperbahn and public transport, via which you can reach the stadium in around 40 minutes.

Motel One Hamburg-Fleetinsel
A lower budget tip from Felix's other half, Natasha, this hotel is 11 minutes by public transport from the main station, 13 from the Reeperbahn and c. 45 from the stadium.

Mercure Hotel Hamburg am Volkspark
A 20-minute walk across the park to the stadium. 4-star hotel. Restaurant and bar. 24-hour front desk. Free WiFi. 

bedpark Stellingen
To the stadium it's 13 minutes by bus or 15 on foot. To the main station it's around 30 minutes by S-Bahn suburban train or underground. Rooms and apartments. Free Wi-Fi.

Arena Hostel
Simple accommodation for travellers and tradesmen. A 15-minute walk from the stadium and about 30 minutes by S-Bahn suburban train to the main station. Double and quadruple rooms, and 4-bed and 6-bed dormintories. Free parking and Wi-Fi.

Located right next the airport and connected by a footbridge to the terminal building. High quality accommodation, bar and restaurant.

Ibis Budget Leipzig City
Basic but clean, and a great location. Just 200 yards from the main station (and thus also the adjacent FlixBus coach station). Stayed here for a Union game a couple of years ago and walked both to and from the ground (about 20 minutes each way).

Also centrally located, 500 metres from the main station and thus also within walking distance of the stadium. Also close to all the main city centre sights.

Just 250 metres from the stadium. 4-star hotel. Room service. Free Wi-Fi. Breakfast. A 20-minute walk to the city centre or 13 if taking the tram.

Suites for 2 or 3 occupants. 14 minutes' walk from the stadium. Units with sofa, seating area and kitchenette. 15-minute walk to the city centre.

Hotel Arena Stadt München
A 15-minute walk to Frottmanning underground station (and thus also the FlixBus coach station), at which point the walkway up to the stadium begins. Free parking and Wi-Fi. Breakfast. Garden. A 2-minute walk to Kieferngarten underground station, from which it takes 15 minutes to Marienplatz, central Munich.

Ibis Munich Garching
Located right outside Garching-Hochbrück underground station, which is just one stop (4 minutes) from the stadium stop and 20 minutes from the city centre. 24-hour front desk. Free Wi-Fi and free parking 50m away.

B&B Hotel München-Garching
Next door to the Ibis, so travel distances are as above. 24-hour front desk. Free Wi-Fi and free parking 50m away.

Near Munich Airport:

Hilton Munich Airport
Located on the airport site between terminals 1 and 2. Bar, restaurant, 24-hour front desk and free Wi-Fi.

Novotel Munich Airport
Located on the airport site a short bus ride from the terminal buildings. Bar, restaurant, 24-hour front desk and free Wi-Fi.

Premier Inn Munich Airport Ost
Located just 1.2 miles from the airport, this Premier Inn offers a familiar standard of accommodation at prices that won't break the bank.

Stuttgart

Three suggestions first of all from a former work colleague, Andreas in Stuttgart, with all three places in the Bad Canstatt area, which is where the stadium is located.

Motel One Bad Cannstatt  
Affordable luxury, says the website. 24-hr reception, free WiFi. Paid-for underground parking. Just under 30 minutes to the stadium on foot or 18 minutes on public transport.

B&B Hotel Bad Cannstatt
Also within walking distance of the stadium (25 minutes). Air-conditioned en suite rooms. Free WiFi. Some on-site parking. Buffet breakfast at extra cost.

Premier Inn Bad Cannstatt  
Familiar Premier Inn accommodation 3 miles from the main station and 1.6 miles from the stadium, which Google Maps says you can walk to in 37 minutes or reach by car/taxi in 7.

Motel One Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof
A good location, Steffi and friends say, right in the city centre and adjacent to the main railway station. Direct S-Bahn connection to Bad Cannstatt, the part of town where the stadium is located. 

Hotels in Feuerbach 
Not the prettiest area, say Steffi & co., but with good transport links to the city centre and stadium and not as expensive as in the centre itself

Motel One Stuttgart-Feuerbach
Not far to the underground. Approx. 15 minutes journey time to Bad Cannstatt

B&B HOTEL Stuttgart-City
Also in Feuerbach, close to the underground. Direct underground journey to Bad Cannstatt (c. 15 minutes)

Premier Inn Stuttgart Feuerbach
Familiar Premier Inn accommodation just a 2-minute walk from the local underground station. It's then just 8 minutes to Stuttgart main station.

Hotel ibis budget Stuttgart City Nord
Another familiar hotel brand, offering simple accommodation and a continental breakfast. 100 metres from the nearest underground station, from which it's just 8 minutes to Stuttgart main station.

the niu Form 
Designer hotel with a bar and 24-hour front desk. Also in the Feuerbach area. 300 metres to the nearest underground station, then 8 minutes to Stuttgart main station.

Near the Neckarstadion:

Hilton Garden Inn Stuttgart Neckarpark
Directly next to the stadium. 24-hour front desk. Restaurant and lounge bar. Free-Wi-Fi. A couple of minutes' walk to the Neckarpark Stadion underground station, from which, via U-Bahn (underground) and one change to the S-Bahn (overground suburban train) you can reach the main railway station in around 15 minutes.

Schiff AHOY
Fancy something different! How about a night or two on a houseboat! This boat is moored just across the Neckar from the stadium (about a 20-minute walk). Bar, terrace, breakfast and, of course, river views.

Near Stuttgart Airport:

Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport
Right outside the terminal building. 4-star hotel with soundproofed rooms, restaurant, lounge and bar.

Wyndham Stuttgart Airport Messe
Just across the road from the terminal building. Lounge bar, restaurant, terrace, 24-hour front desk and free Wi-Fi.

Best Western Plaza Hotel Stuttgart-Filderstadt
7 minutes by car, taxi or paid-for shuttle to/from the terminal. Bistro restaurant, bar and free Wi-Fi.

Stuttgart - and even Feuerbach - rates too high? Try Ludwigsburg instead (15* minutes away)
