The five host cities in this group lie in north, western and eastern Germany.

A good host city for a base for this group would be Berlin. 

As an alternative, a city not hosting games, but geographically well located and with good road and rail links to the five venues would be Hannover. 

If you did base yourself in Berlin and travelled about by rail, then the Deutsche Bahn website shows you what the journeys to the other venues would look like:
